# Opta — Insight

> Opta is a single unified AI that gets continuously optimised by an internal team of complementary models (Amelio) and a dedicated researcher (Mono). Built by one person in Australia. This site explains what Opta is, simply.

This site is structured for both humans (link-shared) and AI agents (called by an AI user to ground the assistant on Opta). Both versions of the site are intentionally lightweight, AI-readable, and `noindex` — the brand isn't publicly launched.

## Key concepts (vocabulary)

- **Opta** — the whole unified AI system. The brand. The user-facing identity.
- **Amelio** — internal multi-model orchestrator. Compensates for primary-model weaknesses. Serves Opta.
- **Mono** — internal dedicated research process. Maintains the Nexus knowledge base. Serves via Amelio.
- **Brain Layer** — the cognitive engines (models).
- **Body Layer** — the execution infrastructure (harness, tools, skills, retrieval, memory).
- **Mind** — not a separate layer; the reflective mode of the Brain-Body system.
- **The Opta Cycle** — Mind → Brain → Body → Mind (how every task flows).
- **Pathways** — the three connection types between layers: Context (Mind→Brain), Action (Brain→Body), Learning (Body→Mind).
- **WOL — What Optimal Looks Like** — the system's current best understanding of the ideal state per component, with explicit confidence levels (Proven / High / Medium / Low / Unknown).
- **OptaLocal** — the mission, not a product. Make local AI competent enough to be a viable everyday alternative to cloud AI for most people.
- **Position Play** — assess before you act. The 99% of optimisation is thinking; the 1% is moving.

## What we're building

A complete AI operating system stack: 4 user-facing apps (HQ, Terminal, Deploy, Gateway) + 13 websites + 24 anatomy components. Most components are Low/Medium confidence today. We improve them one at a time, with evaluation before doctrine.

## What we're not

- Not a wrapper around one model. Opta is a system, not a thin UI.
- Not a peer-of-other-AIs framing. Amelio and Mono aren't competing products; they're infrastructure.
- Not promising "beat cloud everywhere." We aim for "match cloud on ~80% of everyday tasks via orchestration." The remaining ~20% rides on your existing cloud subscription, BYOK.
- Not surveillance-funded. No telemetry by default.

## Status

Building in private beta. This site (insight.optastack.ai) is the friend-share surface and the AI-grounding surface. The brand isn't publicly launched yet — `<meta robots="noindex,nofollow">` is intentional.
